Latest InfluxData Release Introduces Industry’s First Advanced Kubernetes Auto Scaling and Prometheus Read/Write Support -- After Recently Joining Cloud Native Computing Foundation, InfluxData Supports Community by Contributing Enhancements to Foundation’s Key Projects

AUSTIN, Texas (KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Booth No. S33), Dec. 6, 2017 -- InfluxData, the Modern Open Source Platform built specifically for metrics, events and other time series data that empowers developers to build next-generation monitoring, analytics and IoT applications, today announced its latest release delivers industry-first functionality for both Kubernetes (K8s) and Prometheus. InfluxData will unveil its new solution and demonstrate this new functionality this week at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon in Booth No. S33.

With InfluxData, developers now have more efficient control and utilization of their containers by determining Kubernetes auto scaling based on any metric generated by K8s and collected with InfluxData, and are no longer limited to auto scaling based on only CPU or memory metrics. InfluxData’s industry-first functionality makes Kubernetes more efficient and powerful than before. For example, developers can now scale based on metrics such as queue depth or requests per second. This allows for greater business flexibility and better ROI as resources can be allocated more precisely and effectively.

"We are pleased to see immediate involvement with these key CNCF projects from new CNCF member, InfluxData," said Dan Kohn, Executive Director of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. "Demonstrated support from the community strengthens all partners and projects of the Foundation."

InfluxData’s new release also supports Prometheus’ standard exposition format by adding Prometheus’ service discovery and scraping into Kapacitor, InfluxData’s real-time streaming data processing engine, and metric read/write interoperability into InfluxDB, the InfluxData Time Series database. Developers can now preserve their investment in Prometheus and use Kapacitor to dynamically monitor their metrics in real time, and write data into InfluxDB which can act as a highly available metric store. Developers are able to seamlessly add InfluxDB and Kapacitor to their existing systems and support more complex use cases with stream processing and support any high availability business requirements.

With continued support for the standardization of metrics data, InfluxData reduces the effort of writing a collector to help developers collect time series metrics and events from more targets than possible before. And added native support for Prometheus read and write APIs enables InfluxDB to act as the long-term data store for Prometheus data, allowing developers to use historical data for forecasting, auditing, and event logging. This allows InfluxData to be an active participant the Prometheus ecosystem.

By including the Prometheus’ service discovery and scraping code, Kapacitor can pull metrics from targets such as containers, write data into InfluxDB, and perform filtering, transformation and other tasks. This, combined with Telegraf’s ability to push metrics into InfluxDB, provides more flexibility for developers to gather metrics and events from any source, with any lifespan, into a single long term store.

"With the introduction of this functionality, InfluxData continues to differentiate itself by providing high precision, high availability metric collection and storage of K8s containers, and fully participating in the Prometheus ecosystem," said Tim Hall, InfluxData VP of Products. "We are pleased to support these new standardization efforts, which help the industry to focus on features instead of building collectors. This new release also allows our partners to strengthen their container products/services."

The InfluxData Platform provides a comprehensive set of tools and services to accumulate metrics and events data, analyze the data, and act on the data via powerful visualizations and notifications. InfluxData’s unique features enable customers to quickly build:

* Monitoring, alerting and notification applications supporting their DevOps initiatives
* IoT applications supporting millions of events per second, providing new business value around predictive maintenance and real-time alerting and control
* Real-time analytics applications that are focused on streaming data and anomaly detection
